Course Synopsis
|
This course has been designed to familiarize the students with the laws related to banking and the banking practices around the globe with special emphasis to Pakistan.
Banking regulations can vary widely across the nations and jurisdictions. This course describes general principles of bank regulations throughout the world especially in Pakistan.
This course will not only develop but also helpful to enhance interpretational skills of legal language and clear understanding of the students regarding prevalent banking and ancillary laws in Pakistan
This course will help the students (especially to the students of banking & finance) to develop professional/legal skills so as to apply these laws in real life situations and enable them to manage legal requirements pertaining to banks and banking transactions.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Clear understanding regarding previous and prevalent banking and ancillary laws in Pakistan focusing on: Nationalization Act of 1974, Banking Companies Ordinance 1962, State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956, SBP Banking Services Corporation Ordinance, 2001, Pakistan Banking and Finance Services Commission Act, 1992, Microfinance Institutions Ordinance, 2001, Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600), Prudential Regulations of SBP, The Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) Ordinance, 2001.
- Clear understanding of legal requirements pertaining to banks and banking transactions
- Clear understanding of banker customer relationships
- Clear understanding of negotiable instruments, forms of lending and letter of credit
- Clear understanding of new requirements of customers and its existence in the presence of laws and regulations.
