Course Overview

Course Synopsis

With a growing trend of financial sector specially in Islamic banking, a new subject is being offered to you which will develop an understanding regarding Islamic banking. The course aims to get the students learn the Introduction to the early evolution and history of Islamic banking globally, Historical evolution of Islamic banking in Pakistan. Further this subject will develop the understanding to differentiate Islamic Banking from conventional Banking. Different Islamic modes which are used by Islamic banks are discussed in detail with a practical approach. What are the different alternative methods which are used by Islamic banks to provide competitive products to market. Further more this course will allow you to understand the obstacles in the way of Islamic banking in Pakistan.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of session the students are expected to:

  • Possess the knowledge of history and evolution of Islamic banking
  • Recognize the fundamental instruments and concepts available and used in the Islamic banking
  • Understand the differences between Islamic and conventional modes of financing
  • Recognize the actual practices of Islamic banking in Pakistan
  • Understand the practical process flows of different products of Islamic banks
  • Obstacles observed by various participants associated with the Islamic banking
