MGT513 : Public Administration in Pakistan

Course Overview

Course Synopsis

The course is designed to understand the structure, functioning and environment of public administration in Pakistan as laid down in the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan (1973). It, therefore, covers the approaches to public administration (the theoretical aspects) to ground certain concepts in administration and impart knowledge on practical aspects, like political environment, democracy, governance (quality of public service), public fiscal management, human resource value chain in civil service of Pakistan and ethical dimension of public administration. The course is more analytical than descriptive.

Course Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • To understand the theoretical framework of public administration
  • To comprehend the structure and functioning of government in Pakistan
  • To know the political environment, democracy and governance in Pakistan
  • To understand the concepts of corruption, ethics, and service delivery in Pakistan
  • To inculcate critical thinking
