PSY610 : Neurological Bases of Behavior

Course Overview

Course Synopsis

This course focuses on the study of current trends in neuro/psycho/pharmo/physio/biological substrates of behavior. This course studies research methodologies/ techniques, and scientific research for studying the brain behavior relationships (from molecular to molar). It focuses on understanding of neuroanatomical loci, structures, interconnections, their molecular and chemical transmission systems which control behavior. Drug pharmacological modulations of behavior with special reference to neurochemicals and neurohormones are also the part of this course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Develop an appreciation of the involvement of the brain in every aspect of behavior.
  • Comprehend the neurobiopsychological substrates (underpinnings of behavior can underlie aberrations).
  • Recognize well developed and systematic methodologies used to study and develop theoretical frameworks of complex brain- behavior relationships on the basis of the same.
