Course Overview

Course Synopsis

In response to the dynamic, global business environment faced by the organizations today, Knowledge Management (KM) has been identified as one of the key discipline to generate, share and sustain the collaborative and differential advantage in the 21st century. Thus, KM is receiving considerable attention in the business and academic literature. Knowledge Management provides a framework for managing personal knowledge, valuing organizational knowledge and developing knowledge strategies and applications to design and develop smart products /services. KM is the integration of People, Processes, Contents and ICT to create, share and use knowledge, to help accomplish the organization’s goals. Importance of learning (new knowledge) from markets, customers and competitors to design better products and services is also a major subject that falls within the arena of Knowledge Management.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the place of knowledge management within an organization.
  • Examine the theoretical underpinning of the knowledge management process.
  • Appreciate the role of technology in the knowledge management process.
  • Identify the processes involved in capturing, contextualizing, valuing and sharing an organization’s intellectual assets, both tacit and explicit.
  • Employ a range of change management skills appropriate to the introduction of a knowledge management system.
