Course Overview

Course Synopsis

This course is designed to provide students the foundation of organizational behavior, distributed into three main parts individual, group and organization. The first part covers individual aspects like ability and learning, values, attitudes, personality, emotions, perception, individual decision making, motivation and job satisfaction. The second part covers group behavior, basic approaches of leadership, communication, power and politics, conflict and negotiation. The third part provides numerous valuable insights into organizational system, structure, work design and technology, HR policies and practices, organizational culture, change and stress management.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the nature of individual behavior and group processes as they affect decision making and implementation.
  • Identify the role of personality, perceptions and motivation influence an individual’s and group’s behavior in organizations.
  • Utilize alternative conceptual frames for analyzing organizational behavior.
  • Demonstrate how organizational culture affects perceptions and behaviors in organizations to support or suppress accomplishment of the organization’s objectives.
  • Observe and analyze group behavior in a work team setting.
  • Examine the important variables in individual and group decision making and problem solving.
  • Explain the pervasiveness and importance of communication in all aspects of the organizations functioning.
  • Examine individual and organizational change processes.
