Course Synopsis
|
Public policy is a multidimensional subject. It is simultaneously a field of practice, academic research and political and economic theory building. The discipline of public policy has a long history. This course offers a blend of theory and practice in public policy from academic and professional perspectives. It familiarizes students with the history of the discipline of public policy, theories of public policy, major public policy scholars, and range of methods used in policy formulation, policy research, policy implementation and policy analysis. The ultimate purpose is to equip students to understand various public policies, undertake public policy research and propose new public policies based on research, insight and theoretical knowledge. The practical example offered in the course will help students understand complex problems of public policy in Pakistan in critical and practical ways. The course familiarizes students with policymaking, and policy analysis in Pakistan and with the actors behind those policies.
